The state minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of international cooperation, Henry Okello Oryem on 30th June 2022 pledged to follow up the intervention from the government that will see hundreds of locals benefit from reliefs from the prime minister's office following disastrous hailstorms that hit several sub-counties in Agago district.
Mr. Oryem made his comments following the concern raised by David Atuka Lagen, MP for Agago county during his speech on the Parish development Model launch. He said that he will follow up on the letter that was previously written to the Prime minister’s office requesting food relief.
Mr. Lagen said that the locals that have been affected by the hailstorms need government help since all their crops, and livestock among others were destroyed. He added that they have written a letter to the prime minister's office, but date, no feedback.
"The affected 385 households are traumatized by the tragedy that left them without anything to depend on.
"I urged the minister to back up the reports from the district, otherwise, the locals are awaiting a dangerous famine that will lead to death," MP Lagen adds.
Mr. Oryem while responding to the concern said that if other areas that were affected by such a similar disaster were helped, then why not help the Acholi region.
He promised to follow up on the matter so that people are relieved of their pain.
