33 Special Police Constables in Pader district who were discharged from the police force without payment for March totalling Ugx. 12,375,000 after missing salary on Monday, 24th May 2021 were paid following a series of public outcry.
Each constable was paid Shs.370,000.
Pader district had earlier on registered a total of 291 police constables who worked during the campaign period of January and February 2021.
One of the affected personnel on condition of anonymity says that he was not paid his salary for March without clear explanation. He further adds that he was told his names had errors and thus resulting in missing his salary, but later they were all sorted without any deductions.
The payment came months after acknowledgement by the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, David Mudong Ongom who earlier stated that the SPCs issues will be sorted from the regional management meeting which took place on Monday, 31st May 2021.
Enock Musime, Pader district police commander, says those 33 police constables who missed their salary had been cleared. He adds that there are some other people who failed to submit in all the government stores that were given to them and urges them to willingly hand over the stores, or they risk being jailed.
