A total of six police officers at Pader central police station have been released on police bond following their arrests on Saturday, 25th June 2022 after eleven suspects managed to escape from custody over unclear circumstances.
The police officers arrested are; Detective IP Ben Kilama, Richard Okongo (the cell guard), John Moro Omaria, Lucy Anywaro, Dickens Otim, and Santo Okello.
The above police officers were arrested and released on police bond on Sunday, 26th June 2022 after recording statements at the same police station.
One suspect is known as Walter Akena, 18, who was rearrested immediately, while ten are on the run. The suspects who escaped had cases of arson, murder, malicious damage, and defilement among others. One police officer who spoke on anonymity said that investigation on the matter is ongoing to find out how the suspects managed to escape despite the presence of the security officers. A case of Neglect of duty has been recorded at Pader central police station under reference number SD 40/24/06/2022.
