International Aid Services (IAS) has donated over 700 solvatten containers to households that are affected by the nodding disease syndrome (NDS) in Pader district to help in purifying safe drinking water for the affected families.

Ida Acayo, resident of Angagura and a mother of two children with nodding syndrome applauded the effort that the organization is extending to the affected families. She adds that this will ease and save their time when cooking and purifying water for safe drinking since they also reside in an area where there is no safe water for drinking.

Geoffrey Komakech, vice-chairperson Angagura sub-county says that he acknowledges the handover of the solvatten containers to the affected families, and adds that this perhaps pushes the well-being of the affected families. He further urges the government to intervene and support the families directed as there is also a lack of monitoring of the sick children.

Nancy Lawino, councilor V for Angagura, who also doubles as the secretary of finance says that these containers will help people in her area vastly. She adds that the major important part is water purification even if the Uganda government are working towards having safe water for drinking.

Fearless Obwoya, Pader district chairperson, however, urges parents who have received the solvatten containers to take care of them and make good use since it’s made of glass.
