Acholi top leaders in the country have called for a thorough investigation into the causes of Late Lt Gen Lokech’s death during the send-off prayer from Paipir primary school playground.
Lt Gen Lokech died on Saturday, 21 August 2021 from his home in Kira, Wakiso district due to a blood clot according to a postmortem report by the doctors through the Ugandan police force and army forces.
Though the government has clearly stated that blood clot was the cause of the death of Lokech, some leaders in the country are not convinced by the report and demanded yet another further investigation to be done.
Jacob L. Oulanyah, speaker of Uganda parliament says Acholi needs to seek the cause of the death because it’s really painful.
Oulanyah adds that the injury that Late Lt Gen Lokech got was very minimal that could have not resulted in death. He continued and said that there are people responsible for the death of the son of the soil.
According to Oulanyah, an investigation must be done to find out the clear circumstances under which the latter passed on, and nobody should be blamed for anything. He adds that there were doctors who worked on him and should be asked what resulted in death.
Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, Ugandan chief justice says that if there are investigations to be done, people should not focus on one factor yet there are other factors that could make it happen. He further denounced the allegation on the government to be the cause of death not to be true but rather alleged it to tension in workplaces.
He adds that he does not debar the leaders from investigating the causes of the death but should be done under the law.
