The Aswa regional police spokesperson has urged the public to remain calm following a series of explosions that occurred during the prayer to respect the late Maj Gen. Paul Lokech as security operatives are in control of any suspected threat.
Yesterday another explosion was heard at around 9:30 pm at Dok Ilwak restaurant where a suspected bomb was reported to the bomb squad following the public fear.
A source under anonymity revealed to us that, three men came with 3 bags asking for food, unfortunately, they didn’t prefer what they had. She adds that they continued leaving their bag behind, with a promise to come back for it.
Meanwhile, Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson David Ongom Mudong confirmed the explosion that took place late in the evening was not the bomb, but rather the gadgets used by the bomb squad following the tragedy that happened at Atimi Kica hotel in Pader town.
Ongom added that after exploding the bag, 2 pairs of lady’s shoes, red bedsheets, makeups, knickers and others were later discovered. earlier on, a suspect arrested (Abdu Katumba) was found with electric wires, pliers, half a basinful of bicycle ball bearings, a detonator, a bulb, unknown powdery substance and liquid in a bottle, digital watch, and jackets with porches that had been filled with ball bearings at Atimi Kica hotel.
According to Ongom, people should remain calm because A joint security team comprising the Chieftaincy of Military police and Joint Anti-Terrorist Task Force (JATT) are on the ground to detect anything related to bombs that could disrupt the burial ceremony.
