The chief justice of Uganda has today cautioned the general public about false attribution of Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech’s death without evidence to do it at their peril.
Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, chief justice of Uganda, gave strong warnings to the mourners who were attending the Acholi district full council session at Paipii primary school about the attribution of the cause of the death to anybody without clear investigation.
Owiny-Dollo said that he was devastated on hearing of the death of the Late Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech after a day of communication with him. He added that there were commentaries, utterances, among others about the late yet all are not genuine lamentations.
He further said that the late was a military officer who was not only courageous but also valiant to the level of extraordinary.
According to Owiny-Dollo, the death of Lokech was a natural one and urged people not to make judgements concerning his death. He continued and asked why the Late's wife could lie about the death of her husband.
He added that Lokech was not God, even God allowed his son to be crucified.
Owiny-Dollo further warned about the diversion of the major issue that caused the death, and said people must not politic, and bring in their ill motive during the mourning of Maj. Gen. Lokech.
“We shall investigate the death from the lower level (family or primary evidence) to the doctors if people are not satisfied with what the government will utter tomorrow,” Owiny-Dollo added.
However, Hilary Odoch, the commissioner for police, didn’t say anything concerning the death of the son of the soil when given time to talk. He said the police will speak when the burial is being conducted.
Meanwhile, Brig Gen. Charles Otema Awany cautioned the entire Acholi community to help in the investigation of the cause of the death since they are all puzzled.
