Bongtiko sub-county councilors in Pader district have today, 5th April 2022 boycotted and vowed never to attend any council meeting if their seating allowances are not cleared and financial report made available to the council as five council seating was not paid.
Sixteen councilors should be paid Shs. 45,000 per seating and a sub-county chairperson who receives a monthly salary.
Alex Okwera, the Bongtiko sub-county speaker, said the councilors' concerns were on the issues of payment that accrued due to failure to pay for seating allowances, and absenteeism of the SAS.
He added that he adjourned the meeting because the quorum was not realized as only three councilors turn up for the meeting out of the sixteen.
John Bosco Kilama, the Bongtiko sub-county chairperson, said the council meeting was adjourned because there was a low turnup among the councilors because of payments issues.
He added that the sub-county has got poor tax base that cannot support the activity of the council like financing among others.
Meanwhile, Vincent Okot, the Bongtiko sub-county SAS was reported to have delegated, Charles Omony, a clerk to the council to act in his absence since he was committed to the district but he was rejected by the councilors.
