One of the dams found in Northern Uganda.
Government dam projects in Pader district have stalled without clear communication from the relevant authorities since it has been promised to the local communities that it will be constructed as soon as possible.
Aluka dam in Pukor sub-county is one of the stalled projects that was promised to be opened to benefit the relevant communities but to date, it’s not yet been worked on.
David Omony, a resident of Pukor sub-county in Pader district says that the government previously raised the eyebrows of the locals about the dam but to date, the wait is in vain. He adds that the works department in the district should clarify to the locals about the existence of the project.
Patrick Obua, secretary works, Pader district local government admits acknowledging the dam project and says the project is a central government initiative and perhaps, the district can only follow how it’s being worked upon.
According to Obua, a written communication seeking clarity on the project has been sent to the ministry of works and technical services, and a reply is yet to be received. He adds that they will follow the project to make sure it’s done.
