Leaders in Pader and Agago districts have applauded the government strategy towards fighting the covid-19 pandemic that has crippled the country’s economy and social lives of people by the donation of ambulances to help in the referrals since other districts do not have hospitals.
Lagen David Atuka, a member of parliament for Agago county says that when the hospital is full, people with mild symptoms are told to be treated from home to avoid overcrowding which may lead to the spread of the virus. He added that when the situation worsens a referral will be made to the general hospital.
However, Atuka says that the government should endeavour to bring medication to the grassroots people because there is a lack of enough medication that should be used to fight covid-19.
Meanwhile, Dr Komakech Christopher, Aruu County legislature says that the donation of the ambulances is one of the strategies that the government is using in managing the home-based care systems of treatment of covid-19 patients who might need referrals. He further urged people to follow the standard operating procedures put in place to curb down the disease.
According to Komakech, there are other cultural practices that are fueling the spread of the covid-19 such as, people staying an extended family, social love that has developed among people who feel it's difficult to stay apart, and caution that it should be controlled.
