Director Project Monitoring of Inspectorate of Government, Mr James Penywii Onying inspects Acugo damp project in Lamiyo sub-county, Agago district together with the site engineer, Olyel Raymond.
Several government projects in the districts of Agago and Pader are to face scrutiny from the Inspectorate of Government of Uganda (IG) following the public outcry in regards to specific projects allocated to each district on allegations of corruption.
Ajok Christine, a local in Lamogi Omeny Mac Village, Paiula sub-county in Pader district says they were contacted to work on a NUSAF-3 project to fence Lamogi Omeny Mac primary school. She added that they were told to be paid immediately before 30th June 2021, but it was in vain yet they had completed work.
Meanwhile, Oringa Calvin a resident of Luny-pale, Lamiyo sub-county in Agago district says that their sub-county chief failed to pay their allowances totalling to Ugh. 400,000 yet they worked for it. He added that there is also an issue of culvert installation that needs to be addressed by the IG since it was alleged to have been paid for but no work was done to date.
Director Project Monitoring of Inspectorate of Government, Mr James Penywii Onying says people should get the best out of the community monitoring groups (CMG) that were created to monitor government projects in the communities since they were trained on how to report such issues to IGG. He added that all the complaints have been noted and action will be taken into consideration for investigations to be done specifically on the NUSAF-3 projects of the Acugo dam project in Agago, and the other projects in Pader.
