The Homicide squad at Gulu District Police Station under DEF 01/2022 are investigating an incident of sudden death of a laborer that occurred on 16th February 2022 within a short period of time after being admitted to Gulu regional referral hospital due to mild illness.
The deceased is known as Robert Komakech, 34 years old, a resident of Tekwo village, Mede Parish, Palaro Subcounty in Gulu District has been working in the area as a casual laborer (Shepherd).
Benard Alana, a reporter of the incident said that it's alleged that on 14/02/2022 at around 1832hrs, the deceased fell sick and was admitted for treatment at the nearest drug shop within Oroko trading center.
He added that, due to his deteriorating health, he was referred to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital on 16/02/2022 but collapsed and died shortly before reaching the referral Hospital.
ASP Ongom David Mudong, Pro Aswa-River said that the Police detectives led by the SOCO immediately visited the scene, documented it and obtained statements from relevant witnesses to back up investigations.
He added that the deceased’s body was taken to Gulu referral hospital Mortuary for postmortem, and suspect linked to the incident as the death was of natural cause.
