Maize crops were destroyed by the hailstorms in Adilang sub-county, Agago district on 20th June 2022.
Locals in Adilang sub-county and Adilang town council, Agago district are counting losses after a heavy storm poured down yesterday, 20th June 2022 destroying several acres of crops, and living things such as birds, and snakes among others.
The hailstorm that started at about 3:00 pm, destroyed the properties in two parishes of Kulaka and Labwa in Adilang sub-county.
The affected villages in the two parishes include; Mugila east, Mugila central, Mugila west from Labwa parish and Kulaka central, Kula Lela jok, Lela jok, Obilokec, Bar lajwa, and kulaka obur
Colline Acayo, a resident of Adilang sub-county said that her maize garden of one acre has been destroyed by the hailstorm plus some parts of her groundnut garden as well. She added that four cows, countless chickens, and goats too, have perished in the hailstorms.

Mr. Mohammed Okwir, the LC3 chairperson of Adilang, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, saying that more than 12 villages had been affected. He said that the hailstorms destroyed crops such as maize, cassava, groundnuts, and birds, among others.

According to Okwir, the destruction is too much and calls for immediate intervention for the affected families, currently, they cannot confirm to what extent the hailstorms have damaged the crops, among other things as they are trying to record the items destroyed.
