Iron Sheets Donated to Families Affected with Nodding Syndrome in Wrong Hands, Beneficiaries

Several families that should have benefitted from the iron sheets donated by the district recently have cried out that they have not got their hands on the iron sheets alleged to have been donated in early February 2021 since none of them did receive it.

Pader district deputy chief administrative officer, James Bedijo Okumu says that the district has donated and handed over the iron sheets to the affected families in Angagura sub-county, without mentioning the numbers and when it was distributed.

However, a number of affected families didn’t know the whereabouts of the alleged distributed iron sheets yet they didn’t receive them.

Ida Acayo, a resident of Angagura B, Angagura sub-county and a mother of two children who is suffering from the nodding syndrome says that they have not seen and received any iron sheet that the district has distributed. She adds that the leaders are the ones who benefited and know the whereabouts of it.

Fearless Obwoya Oyat, district chairperson Pader further urge the sub-county leaders to make follow-ups on the iron sheet issue and ascertain the whereabouts. He adds that the district security officer will intervene to investigate the issue.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Okware, Deputy district resident commissioner says these iron sheets were sent from the office of the prime minister to the chief administrative officer’s office to be given to beneficiaries. He adds that investigation will be made to know who benefitted from the project made to benefit the nodding syndrome affected families.
