The detectives at Lamwo Central Police Station last evening arrested a female medical staff attached to Lokung health center III to answer an alleged case of defilement she committed last year on 12/10/2021 vide SD Ref. 04/12/10/2021.
Ms. Akello Catherine, aged 34yrs, a medical staff attached to Lukungu Health Center III working as information assistant was accused on 12/10/2021 for defiling a minor aged 15 who is her neighbor.
Akello was reported to have been on the run since last year, and was arrested from Lamwo District Headquarters where she had turned up for a workshop.
On the 12/10/2021 between 7:30PM-8:00PM, while at Lukungu Health Center III Staff Quarters, Akello was reported to have followed the minor to the bathroom where she allegedly defiled him.
According to the mother of the victim, she said her son took long in the bathroom that prompted her to check on him only to shockingly to find Akello having sexual intercourse with her son in the bathroom. She further revealed that it was during the scuffle that Akello escaped from the scene.
Police detectives last year had taken action against the suspect by registering a case of defilement, recorded statements from the victim, his mother and other relevant witnesses, medical examination of the victim was also done.
ASP David Ongom Mudong Aswa-River Region police spokesperson said that it is so unfortunate that an adult Woman who is expected to protect Juveniles against perpetrators of defilement instead ended up victimizing the juvenile. He added that the police condemn this act and shall ensure that the suspect faces the law.
According to Mudong, the suspect has now been arrested, and will be subjected to medical examination through the police regional Surgeon to ascertain her health status. Mudong added that her charge and caution statement will be recorded, and the file shall be submitted to Random Sexual Acts (RSA) for perusal and legal advice.
