Locals Cry Foul Over Home-Based Covid-19 Treatment

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

Locals in Pader district are raising alarm as a result of the guidelines given by the ministry to keep the covid-19 patients who are not in bad conditions at home citing it as risking the surging in numbers of infections.

Akello Pasca, a resident of Kwala village, Lapyem parish, Laguti sub-county says that this idea is not good as it is very difficult to manage the sick from home. She added that people tend to mix anyhow at homes making it more complex for the locals to maintain it.

Meanwhile, Ocer John Mugisha Chris, councillor V Ajan sub-county says that in a traditional setting in Africa, maintaining the sick of such disease is not easy because people usually share things at home. He added that the sub-counties in Pader lack qualified health personnel to look after the sick people.

However, the deputy resident district commissioner, Okware Emmanuel says that the quarantine option will be the last resort to opt for. He added that people need to discipline themselves to follow the guidelines.

Okware said that there are no resources to maintain the quarantine centres that the public is yearning for, and urged locals to follow the standard operating procedures.
