Learners in greater East Acholi districts are facing challenges of accessing the radio learning programs since the selected radios cannot be heard over in their district making them miss out the programs.
Radio lessons for primary schools in Uganda resumed on June 14 following the guidelines given by the ministry of education and sports as all schools remained closed due to Covid-19.
The selected classes for the lessons are P4 and P5.
Okot Ronald, a P5 pupil in lira Palwo primary school says, they aren’t getting any piece of education from the two radios selected in the Acholi region because where they live, the radios aren’t heard. He added that the education department for Agago district should find a way to help them.
Meanwhile, Komakech Lam David, secretary for education and sports in Pader district says the radio learning scheme is benefiting few districts leaving out some districts including Pader, Agago and Abim.
At least a radio station should be picked from the two districts of either Agago or Pader to be chosen, Lam
Lam says that the learning program is not heard and there is a need to revamp the situation our pupils are in. He added that they are yet to submit their request to the district covid-19 task force to be worked on.
