Pader district, Wednesday, 9th February 2022 Pader district chairperson has on Wednesday, 9th instructed the Pader district chief administrative officer (CAO) to halt the appointment of a teacher over alcohol abuse during the swearing-in ceremony at the district headquarters.
James Oyetanono, a teacher assigned to Odum primary school in Puranga sub county, Pader district, reported to have come while drunk to the swearing-in ceremony organized for induction of the newly recruited workers.
Fearless Obwoya Oyat, Pader district chairperson after recognizing that Oyet was not sober, instructed CAO, Chelimo to halt the appointment of one, Oyetanono until the issue is sorted. He added that drunkenness does not reflect the ethics of code of conduct of teachers.

While, Francis Olwoch, Pader district education officer condemned that act of alcoholism among teachers, and said that they should refrain from alcoholism. He added that teachers need to be role models to the locals in the community since their work is to impart knowledge to the illiterate.
However, Alex Chelimo, CAO Pader in response to the instruction from the district chairperson said that it was unfortunate and proper since he didn’t follow the public standing orders for civil servants. He added that before he is posted to his work place, he needs to be questioned as to why he came drunk at the swearing-in.
