Uganda’s president has warned cultural institutions to desist from participating in a parallel governance while giving his speech during a requiem mass of late Emorimor Augustine Osuban Lemukol held at Kololo Independents ground yesterday, 15th 2022.
Earlier on, the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja when paying tribute to Emorimor Osuban Lemukol, appreciated the contribution and service that late Emorimor Osuban rendered to the people of Teso sub-region and Uganda.
Nabbanja said that Emorimor Osuban Lemukol was an advocate for peace and stability, who played a key role working with the Uganda Peoples' Defense Forces and the Arrow Boys Auxiliary Force to defeat the Lord's Resistance Army in the Teso sub-region

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, president of the republic of Uganda said that National Resistance Movement (NRM) objective lies in; prosperity for all, security and brotherhood in order to achieve the set goals.
Museveni stated that in recent times, kingdoms were abolished because they were misleading people, which partly divided people instead of uniting them. He added that they analyzed the issue concerning cultural institutions despite having a negative tendency, it can play a contributing role in the development of Uganda.

According to Museveni, the problem of Africa has been governance especially by cultural institutions. He said that inter-tribal wars existed because of transfer of power by these institutions to clans and later to tribes.
He further warned of clashes between Cultural institutions and the government, saying that it’s constitutionally not allowed for cultural leaders to intervene in political, legislations and administration of government-related work. He added that there is already a government formed, and cultural institutions’ role is to embrace the existing government so that it adds value.
