Pader district and other development partners during a meeting held on 9th February 2022, stated that locals should obtain birth certificates from the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) for their own good.
Festo Okidi, Pader district community development officer, during the induction meeting stated that these certificates are helpful, though there are challenges that might be met due to change of date of birth by the locals.
Augustine Odokonyero, social worker with Caritas, Gulu said that Caritas will work with NIRA to ensure that the project is achieved as planned. He added that over 106 mobile birth registration sessions will be done at the parish and school level.
Odokonyero said that these will be done in 70 schools and 36 parishes with the help of NIRA and the Mobile Vital Record Systems (Mobile VRS).
According to NIRA, the requirements to obtain a Birth Certificate are copies of national identity cards of both parents, a birth notification record from the place of birth and a copy of your National ID if you are an adult upon payment of Shs5,000 in the bank.
