District officials of Pader have commissioned 9 newly constructed boreholes and 20 others were rehabilitated in areas of Acholibur, Ogom, Lapul among the sub-counties who benefited to help fight the scarcity of water in the district.
The district officials who were present for the commissioning of the boreholes included; district water engineer, secretary works, district chairperson, the deputy chief administrative officer, and deputy resident district commissioner among others.
Patrick Obua, councillor V for Puranga, who doubles as the district secretary for works and technical services during the commissioning appreciated all the community members who are protecting their water points well. He adds that all households who benefit from the water points will collect 2,000/= for maintenance of the rehabilitated and the newly constructed boreholes.
Patrick further urges the locals to be calmed as the current regime is working hard to ensure each village has got a functioning clean water point. He adds that all water points that are spoiled should be on record and submitted for appropriate actions by the works department.
Emmanuel Okware, Pader district deputy resident commissioner, says that the water and sanitation sector remains part of the government agenda for development. He adds that people must now play their own part as the district has done theirs.
