The Pader district resident state attorney typist has on the 19th October 2022 been accused by a local after he reportedly paid for bail fee amounting to Shs. 550,000 which never materialized following his release from prison after serving fourteen months in Kineni prison.
Mr. Richard Opiyo, a typist working with magistrate court Pader district was accused after he allegedly received the money on 1st January 2021 from Okot’s relatives with intention of paying the bail fee.
Mr. Francis Okot, a resident of Agora village, Kilak parish, Pader sub-county in Pader district said that he was arrested on charges of physical assault and remanded on 5th January 2021 and later sentenced to 14 months to prison on 18th January 2021 despite paying the Shs. 550,000 for bail.

Meanwhile, Mr. Milton Odongo, the Pader resident district commissioner (RDC) said that he received complaints from Okot about the extortion on 18th October 2022 and immediately, summoned the accused person who later admitted while appearing before the resident state attorney and Grade one magistrate that he received the money.
Odongo further directed the accused to have his statement recorded at the Pader central police station.

However, Mr. Opiyo, the RSA typist while on phone stated that he is not aware of the allegations levied on him, saying that he is ready to hear the allegations formally.
