Pader district education department has on Thursday, 17th handed over a teacher who was alleged to have attempted suicide to his family members as he is suspected of mental disturbance following a study from his behaviors and communication.
The teacher was on 11th February 2022, forcefully evicted from Odum in Puranga sub county over attempted suicide and misconduct after he burnt his owned house down while drunk.
Basilio Olara, a teacher of Odum primary school in Puranga sub county has been forced to leave Puranga sub county on allegations of misconducts of teaching while drunk and attempting to kill himself.
Lam Komakech David, Pader district education secretary condemned the acts of Olara, and said that it’s uncalled for since the law does allow such practices in learning institutions.
Rose Lalam Filder, Pader district education officer in charge of guidance and counselling said that all the complaints brought about Olara were true after a meeting held at Odum primary school with the parents and the school management committee.
According to Lalam’s findings, the teacher is said to have burnt his hut accidentally because he was drunk. She added that Olara after being released from Puranga police station portrayed a weird character that shows mental disturbance.
Lalam in her conclusion, stated that the district education department later resolved to hand over Olara to his family members since he was not connected in brain, and further advised them to take Olara for medical checkup for a period of two weeks.
