Pader town council faces challenges of closure if the standard operating procedures are not followed as directed by the government and the ministry of health as people are being forced to do so amidst the surging covid-19 cases in the district.
A market vendor who talked to our reporter on conditions of anonymity says that people want to be forced to follow the guidelines given by the government. She added that it’s now ones’ responsibility to observe the SOPs in order to fight the covid-19.
Otim Olal Marson (Danger), Pader town council market tenderer denied the statement above statement and says they are observing all the guidelines given by the ministry of health and the president’s directives in fighting the covid-19. He added that anybody who will be caught defying the SOPs will be arrested and taken to the police as they are the implementors of the directives.
Meanwhile, Fearless Kilama Wod-Acholi, mayor of Pader town council says we are in a pandemic situation now and there are two places that must be kept covid-19 free to ensure easy life. He added that the market could have been closed but they discussed it and it was allowed to be open.
Kilama further said that failure to observe the standard operating procedures will call for immediate intervention of the police force to force people to follow the guidelines as required.
