Pader district, Pagwari Damping Site. 11th July 2021
Residents of Pagwari are routinely crying about the damping site that the town council is using because it has turned out to be disastrous to the neighbouring community as they are not taken care of while using it.
Richard Oringa, a local resident in Pagwari village, Acoro cell in Pader town council says that damping is in an open place that affects the daily working and living conditions of people around Pagwari. He added that the leaders should endeavour to fence the damping site since it’s becoming a site for infections to people who stay around the site.
Meanwhile, Pader town council deputy mayor, Okello Bosco says that it’s true that the damping site is devastating the area and it's very unfortunate about it. He added that last financial year there was no allocation of funds to fence the site, which calls for patience.
However, when contacted, Fearless Kilama Wod-Acholi, mayor of Pader town council says that it’s right for the locals to cry about the damping site state but currently the town council tax base has reduced due to the covid-19 situation. He added that people should endure the current situation of the damping site.
Kilama further said that there is nothing the town council can do because there is no funding to fence the whole damping site as the financial year has just begun.
