The Gulu resident district commissioner (RDC) has today, 17th June 2022 warned teachers in both primary and secondary schools to resume teaching or risk missing salaries upon removal from the government payrolls during a monitoring visit to one of the schools.
Mr. Charles Ichogor, the Gulu district RDC together with his Deputy Mr. James Cosmas Okidi made the calls during their routine monitoring visit to Latwong Primary school in Awach Sub County, where they met the deputy headteacher, Jackson Oyoo in his office.
Mr. Oyoo, the deputy headteacher of Latwong PS, however, attributed laying down their tools to communication received from their umbrella body.
This provoked the RDC, making him plead with the teachers to consider and have mercy on innocent learners turning up for studies, but in vain.
"I want to advise you, teachers, these children are ours why punish them, the government is aware of your plea and negotiation is ongoing,” RDC tells teachers.
He further appreciated teachers who are doing their work normally and encouraged them to continue with that patriotic love.
