Police in Gulu city are holding Pece division former councilor V on allegations of murder after she reportedly stabbed her husband on the 28th of October 2022 night using a knife from Keyi "A" Cell, Kabedopong Ward, Bardege-Layibi Division, Gulu City
The deceased had been identified as Dr. Joseph Etuk, in his late 30s, a resident of the above address and a medical practitioner in one of the Hospitals in Mbarara City
It's alleged that Ms. Francesca Amony, 34, a former councilor 5 for Pece Division, and a lawyer stabbed her husband during a scuffle on the night of 28th October at around 10:30 pm.
ASP David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa river region police spokesperson confirmed the incident stating that the suspect is still under police detention at Gulu west division after she handed herself over to the police, and the deceased died shortly after at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.
Mudong added that a case of murder by stabbing had been recorded at Gulu west police station under vide SD REF. 17/29/10/2022.
In 2017, Amony appeared before Gulu Magistrate’s Court and was charged with two counts of aggravated torture, convicted, and paid a fine of Shs. 1.5million for torturing two of her maids with a hot flat iron for reportedly stealing UGX60 000 from her house before she was released on a cash bail of UGX500 000.
