Housemaid Remanded Over Alleged Theft of 2.6million



PADER; The Pader district Grade magistrate court has 8th June 2023 remanded to Kineni prison a housemaid who is alleged to have stolen items plus cash worth 2.9million from a business woman, Jennet Akello who resides in Pajule town council.


Gloria Anyayo, 20s, a resident of Patongo in Agago district was alleged to have stolen shillings 2.6million in cash, flat iron, electric kettle, and kids clothes amounting to shillings 300,000 before she was arrested by police in Pajule town council.


According to Akello, Anyayo stole the items when she left her at home alone on 7th of February 2023 at around 12pm from her bag inside the house and sped off to Patongo town council in Agago district.


Akello recovered only the kids clothes and shillings 70,000.


However; the accused (Anyayo) denied stealing the money, questioning the complainant if she saw her steal the money.


His worship Stanislaus Okello Ongwee, the Pader district grade one magistrate remanded the accused and adjourned the court to 3rd of August 2023 for hearing. Adding that, witnesses in this case should be summoned.
