Teachers and pupils have on Friday, 8th July 2022 been encouraged to embrace scouting competition to promote physical fitness, social, emotional, and spiritual development of young people, so that they take a constructive place as responsible Citizens at a training camp held at Ajulu Primary school in Patiko Sub County, Gulu district.
The training that attracted only six primary schools out of 47 and two secondary schools, was under the theme: "Youths Embracing COVID-19 challenges for steady progress.
The commissioner scouting Gulu district, Mr. Isaac Ojok revealed that the scout's council has organized this competition and training of participants in various scouting skills in preparation for the National camp.
He added that this year's camping shall include a range of activities aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of participants to meet the dynamics of the World, and the best patrols will represent Gulu district in the National scout's competition at Kaazi scouts training and camping ground n Wakiso District.
Meanwhile, The Deputy RDC Gulu district Mr. Cosmas James Okidi while officiating the opening of Gulu district scouts' competition applauded the participating schools who managed to reach the district level and, he directed the scout's council to submit the names of headteachers of schools who refused to send their pupils for reprimand.
"The schools which have failed to send their participants are playing with the future of our children and they must be punished for ruining Ugandan", Cosmas asserted.
