VHTs And Village Taskforce Prophesized Huge Scandals in Covid-19 Cash

Village health teams (VHTs) and village task forces in Pader district are predicting a huge scandal in the covid-19 498million fund given by the ministry of health to occur following a series of unfulfilled pledges about payment when the work is done.

Pader district has received a total of 498million shillings to help fight the covid from the health ministry of which 263 and 87 million shillings are to be given to the village task force and health teams respectively, and 148 million shillings is yet to be allocated.

David Ochira, a resident of Wanduku, Palenga parish in Pajule sub-county says it’s good the central government has given funds to help the village health teams. He adds that VHTs funds are always embezzled by the district focal people yet they are to be paid for the work done.

According to David, last year VHTs were cheated and paid less upon their demonstration to RDC’s office where VHTs were paid only shillings 15,000 instead of shilling 30,000. He further tasked the secretary of health to clarify the corruption scandal thoughts.

Meanwhile, Justine Ocen, Pader district vice chairperson says that the current regime is working to fight those injustices that were there. He adds that the district chairperson said that all funding must be directed to its intended purpose.

Justine urges people to believe and trust the new government because they shall work and make sure maximum project follow up is done by guiding the locals.
