Locals in Puranga sub county in Pader district have today, 11th February 2022, forcefully evicted a teacher over attempted suicide and misconduct after he burnt his owned house down while drunk.
Basilio Olara, a teacher of Odum primary school in Puranga sub county have been forced to leave Puranga sub county on allegations of misconducts of teaching while drunk and attempting to kill himself.
Jimmy Alito, a resident of Puranga sub county says that, Olara always go to teach while drunk. He added that, Olara today, 11th February 2022 burnt his own hut and, was forcefully pulled out of the burning house by some locals.

Thomas Omara, chairperson school management committee of Odum primary school said that Olara has been in Odum PS for two years since he was posted there. He added that, Olara like absenteeism and have been reported to district education officials several times on similar issues.

Meanwhile, Lam Komakech David, Pader district education secretary condemned the acts of Olara, and said that it’s uncalled for since the law does allow such practices in learning institutions. He admitted handling similar issues on Olara in his office, and promised to hold a meeting with the parents in Odum over the issue.
