16-year-old Remanded for Allegedly Defiling 7-year-old in Pader

Pader district chief magistrate court has today, 10th March 2022, remanded a boy age 16 for defiling a minor of 7 years old on 14th March 2021.

Kenneth Okello, a 16-year-old boy who allegedly defiled a 7-year-old girl has been remanded to Gulu Children’s Remand Home on charges of aggravated defilement.

The juvenile suspect is a pupil of Lagile Primary School in Lagile parish, Awere sub-county in Pader district. While appearing today before Pader Chief magistrate Joy Nambozo, Okello was not allowed to plead to the capital offense only tried by the High Court.

The prosecution alleges that on 14th March 2021 at Bolo-wigweng village, Lagile parish in Awere sub-county, Pader District, the juvenile sexually abused a neighbor's child.

On conviction, the maximum sentence for aggravated defilement is death.

He returns to Court on March 31 as investigations into his case continue.
