41-year-old Man Murdered in Lapul SC



A 41-year-old man has been reportedly murdered today in the morning, in Lapul sub-county following a quarrel during a time they were gambling late at night in the trading centre.


The deceased known as Walter Okello, 41, was alleged to have been engaged in gambling organized in the trading centre after a market day.


Walter was reportedly later involved in the quarrels because of money issues when they were gambling late in the night at 2 am on the morning of Monday, where he decided to leave for his home in the same trading centre before he was allegedly attacked by his colleague.


Meanwhile, Francis Opiyo, 28, the alleged killer after hitting Walter with a log of wood, took off on a boda-boda immediately he realized that Walter was half dead.


James Olak, village chairperson for Bar Odilo found in Koyo parish, Lapul sub-county says that it was on Sunday that the duo was seen playing cards (gambling) until late in the night.

Ali Peter Bosco, Lapul sub-county chairperson says that the death was a result of gambling in the centre. He adds that they always advised the youths on the dangers of gambling but no one listens to their advice.


Enock Musime, Acting Pader district police commander acknowledges the tragedy and said that police have inspected the scene and investigations are going on. He added that a post mortem will be done to access what caused the death of Walter Okello.
