Seven people out of eleven in Agago district have been arrested on 25th October 2022 on orders of the Parish Development Model Deputy National Coordinator, Jovrine Kyomukama Kaliisa during her monitoring visit that followed a whistle blown on the alleged embezzlement of funds amounting to Shs. 5.8 million.
The suspects included; Samuel Okot CDO of Omiypacwa, Berna Ongom Sarah CDO of Paimol SC, and Vicky Lakot CDO of Lapono SC.
Others are Denis Odong CDO of Parabongo SC, Tabu Denis CDO of Patongo SC, Alex Okwir CDO of Wol SC, and Ms. Lucy Pido Atim CDO of Adilang SC/TC.
They were reportedly later released on police bond after recording a statement at Patongo CPS with others who failed to turn up to be investigated as well.
Ms. Atim, the Adilang sub-county/ town council community development officer who is one of the suspects, however, said that she was arrested because she did not submit her files to the district since they got lost.
Dr. Sunday Nickson, an economist of PDM Secretariat revealed that some whistleblowers tipped off the ministry of the mismanagement of the fund in the eleven sub-counties in Agago district.

Mr. Leonard Ojok Opio, the Agago district chairperson attributed the arrest by the secretariate as an eye-opener to other stakeholders to follow the guidelines rightly. He added that these suspects lacked evidence of payment for facilitation under pillar 5 of the PDM that tackles sensitization.

Mr. Emmanuel Okot, the Agago district resident commissioner said that only community development officers of the affected sub-counties were arrested. He further urged the officers responsible for taking government projects seriously by producing proper accountability.
