Atanga Town Council Grade One Magistrate court in Pader district has today issued criminal summons against two locals from Pader district for allegedly participating in the riots that took place on the 6th and 7th of December 2021.

This came after the duo (Thomas Okello and Ben Ocan) failed to appear before the court on 27th January 2022.

Atanga Town council Grade One magistrate, Mr. Kirumba Atwooki said that the two who failed to turn up for the hearing are hereby commanded by the Uganda government to appear in this court on the 10th day of February 2022 or so soon thereafter as the case may be, and he signed on January 27th, 2022.

Earlier this year, thirty-three suspected rioters were given non-cash court bail of shillings one million each, and their two sureties' bond to shillings two million by Mr. Edward Akankwasa Kabayo, Pader district Grade one magistrate upon a request from their lawyer, counsel Tony Kitara of Baremzi co. & Advocates limited.

However, Kitara did not show up for the hearing scheduled today Thursday, 27th January because of health-related conditions.

Mr. Atwooki, during the court hearing adjourned the bail application for hearing until 10th February, 2022 because the lawyer of the accused persons was not present on health conditions.
