A restaurant at Elegu town gut fire on Saturday, 12th March destroying several properties as a result of an alleged short circuit from one of the rooms.
Ahmed Hassan, a Somali businessman and a victim of the incident reported to Elegu firefighters that on 12/03/2022 at 10:50 PM fire broke out at his restaurant known as Bulsho and bar destroying several properties including Beds, mattresses, clothing, chairs, and TV set.
ASP David Ongom Mudong, Aswa River region police Spokesperson said that a team of firefighters from Elegu fire station commanded by Sgt Byaruhanga and crew book to the scene immediately at 10:53 PM and secured the scene.
According to a report from the police findings, a structure used as a restaurant and bar made of iron sheets and wooden poles, with 26 Rooms were severely burnt by fire, belonging to Ahmed, and a case of fire outbreak was registered under SD REF: 35/12/03/2022 at Elegu fire station.
Mudong added that the fire was later relinquished by fire extinguisher by a rescue team from Elegu together with the public saving further spread. He said that no death or serious injuries were recorded with an ongoing investigation.
