Pader district chief magistrate court has 20th October 2022 adjourned a case hearing of a man who is accused of torching his mother-in-law's grass-thatched house after he was forced to pay a debt, he owed his father-in-law amounting to Shs.90,000.
Sunday Orach, in his 20s, was accused of setting ablaze his mother-in-law's hut on 24th January 2022 at around 2:00 am. He was later arrested on 25th January 2022 in the morning from his hiding place and handed over to police in Pader CPS.
The accused denied the charges levied on him.
Sabina Alu, 60, a resident of Lapina-ba dyang village, Pukor parish, Pukor sub-county in Pader district alleged that Orach torched her house following threats that resulted from settling a debt owed to her husband, Mr. John Okot. She added that she saw the accused at the scene before he took off after waking up.
The Pader district resident state attorney, Mr. Patrick Ojara while speaking before the Chief magistrate asked the court to give him time for the case to be investigated fully by the investigating officers.
Mr. Norobert Noah Ssajjabi, the Pader district Chief magistrate, however, adjourned the case hearing to 9th November 2022.
