Woman Arrested for Alleged Murder of Husband in Amuru


Police in Amuru district has arrested a woman over the death of her husband following a report that she allegedly gave her husband herbal drugs that can stop alcoholism on 10th March 2022.


The deceased, Opira Julius Itolo aged 43, a resident of Kal B cell Pabbo town council was reported to have been administered a local herb by his wife, Betty Apiyo, claiming that it was given by an herbalist to make Opira stop drinking alcohol.


Opira Daniel Okot, a brother to the deceased and a resident of Paomo village, Gaya parish Pabbo sub-county in Amuru district said that on 11th March 2022 Opira started passing urine mixed with blood and on 12th March 2022 he was taken to St Mary's Hospital Lacor where he died on 13th March 2022 at 10:00 am.


ASP David Ongom Mudong, Aswa River region police Spokesperson said that Apiyo has been arrested by the police for further inquiries, and the deceased body was taken to St Mary's Hospital Lacor mortuary pending a postmortem.


A case of murder was registered under VIDE CRB. 101/2022 at Amuru central police station.
